1983年江西大学(现南昌大学)生物系本科毕业,1986年获硕士学位, 1991年获厦门大学博士学位。1986-1988,江西大学助教。1991-2006,厦门大学生命科学学院副教授,2006至今,厦门大学生命科学学院教授。福建省科协委员,福建省生态学会理事长,中国生态学会常务理事。

主要研究内容(Research Areas)
主要研究各自然保护区中的生物多样性。以我国亚热带自然保护区中的植物区系为研究对象,通过植物生物多样性通量研究,为中国自然保护区群网建设提供科学依据;通过福建、江西、湖北、台湾、云南、湖南、广东、广西等省区大量植物群落的调查、排序研究,填补《中国植被》的空白,形成新的分类体系;以和溪南亚热带雨林、永安天宝岩长苞铁杉林、明溪君子峰闽楠林、武夷山毛竹林为主,开展森林生态系统的结构与功能研究。
Our research is focused on the biodiversity in Nature Reserve. Based upon the flora in nature reserves in subtropical region in China and the connectivity of plant biodiversity between different reserves, proposed scientific fundament for building the nature reserves network; Based great survey of plant communities of virgin area in Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Taiwan, Yunnan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, find new communities, forming new classified system of vegetations; Study the structure and function of ecosystems of Subtropical Rainforest in Nanjing, Coniferous forest in Yong’an, Phoebe forest in Mingxi, Bamboo forest in Wuyishan. From 2007, we extend our research area to explore the succession mechanism of virgin subtropical vegetation become an over mature vegetation and the succession process from primary and secondary stage to climatic climax in Danxia landscape.
